Our very active CSR Committee decides on which charity the team should support and what activities would be of most value to the charity. Most recently we’ve been working with the Northern Ireland Children's Hospice as our hero charity and organised a series of fundraising events from cakes sales to competitive football matches.
The advent of the pandemic did affect our charitable activities and community events but our people were as determined as ever to maintain the planned calendar of celebrations. Subsequent events weren’t cancelled but replaced with events that could be taken part in virtually. These included a Covernet Quiz, Charity Bake Off, an Exercise Challenge in Lockdown, a Covernet Virtual 5k, Christmas Jumper Day, Guess the Desk, International Coffee Day and two Belfast Marathons: one a virtual half marathon or 5k and, most recently, an in-real-life team relay or eight-mile walk.
We also volunteer within the local community and offer our team dedicated time within working hours to choose schemes they want to devote their time too.
Our annual beach clean up is a popular team activity and we have been sponsoring a local wild flower planting scheme run by our local council over the last number of years to help increase the number of pollinators in the area.
