At Covernet we are passionate about our environment and improving sustainability. We are committed to the Carbon NetZero UK Government initiative which aims to reduce our carbon emission by 2030. Over recent years our team have joined various community initiatives locally to help improve and protect the local environment.
As well as tracking and reducing our emissions over the last 5 years, we have also committed to being a Paperless office - reducing waste and encouraging as much recycling as possible.
We have been active in pursuing environmentally friendly team activities, such as our annual beach clean-up, where we get together as a group over a weekend to clean up our coastal beaches and parks. We are exceptionally proud to call the beautiful North Coast home and want to encourage others to take care and respect the scenic locations we are lucky to have on our doorstep.
We also work with our local council, sponsoring wildflower planting in public spaces within the town, and have recently been awarded a ‘Bee Friendly’ award in recognition of the work the team have done to introduce pollinator friendly planting outside our office.
As a business we are always looking for ways to improve our working practices, and therefore in mid 2023 we signed up as members of EcoVadis to help us further our environmental and ethical practices.
EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings with a network of over 130,000 rated companies. They first launched in Paris in 2007 and now have offices and operations across US, Cananda Europe and the UK, employing over 1,000 employees. The assessment is carried out by experts who analyse and crosscheck companies data in order to provide a reliable rating based on the company’s industry, size and location.
The scorecard illustrates performance across the three themes:
We were delighted to be awarded a performance accreditation with an overall score of 65/100. This is a fantastic score for a first time assessment, placing us in the top 15% of companies engaged in the programme and worthy of a Silver Medal.
We are already working on the recommendations from the detailed report EcoVadis provided to help us further improve over the next 12 months as the team work together towards the next level.
